Nancy and David Bechtol took the theme of Paris and Chicago fusion literally when they came up with their pieces French Fusion (Juxtaposition) and French Fusion (Liberty). David brought Paris to Chicago with his piece, by placing the most celebrated pieces of architecture in Paris, the Eiffel Tower, right in the heart of the Chicago skyline. Nancy interpreted it a bit differently, by bringing lady liberty, an American icon originally gifted by the French, to overlook Chicago. By placing these iconic buildings that were both French produced, the Bechtol’s were able to figuratively achieve the same fantasy Las Vegas physically fulfilled.

ReplyDeleteJust a bit of view from the top of the Willis (Sears) Tower. Both David and I shot the view. David replaces the Hancock with the Sears Tower for the juxtaposed Chicago Skyline, and I dive into beyond las vegas, the surreal montage of original photos, as a tribute to my French Grandfather, first generation in the USA.
