Ann O'Brien's 'Maine Cycles'

With a reference to the "color field" painting style and a bit of European modernism, Ann O'Brien's pieces in Maine Cycles are perhaps a direct ode to 20th century painter Robert Motherwell.

O'Brien is able to depict objects in unique perspectives- ones that we wouldn't normally perceive upon glance. She is able to skew the visage of an object by simplifying it to its basic geometric shape, a stark contrast from the natural world. Thus, the overall look has a print-like quality.

You can view her exhibit until the 26th of this month.
